When I got my Pfizer oncology offer last year the base was $128k. I pushed back citing market data from two competing offers. They came up to $138k without blinking. Lesson: always push back. Always. The first number in pharma is rarely the best number. Have competing data ready — use the ranges you see on forums like this, use offer letters from interviews you've done, cite publicly available benchmarks. The recruiter is not your adversary but they are incentivized to close at the lowest number that works. Know your market value. It's the most important career skill in this industry.
