Just wrapped up the interview process for a Gilead oncology specialist role in the Northeast.
Got the offer last week and wanted to share the full breakdown since I found almost nothing online about their current process.
Round 1 — Phone screen with recruiter (30 min): Standard stuff.
Why oncology, why Gilead, walk me through your resume.
They asked about my current IC attainment which felt early but I had numbers ready.
Round 2 — Hiring manager video call (45 min): This was more behavioral.
STAR format questions about handling a difficult KOL, a time I missed quota and what I did about it, and how I would launch a new indication in a competitive market.
She was sharp and clearly had done her homework on my territory.
Round 3 — Panel interview (1 hr): Three people — RSL, a peer rep, and someone from medical affairs.
They gave me a mock scenario where I had to present clinical data to a skeptical oncologist.
The medical affairs person grilled me on the MOA and I am glad I studied the PI inside out.
Round 4 — Field ride with DSM (half day): This was the differentiator.
We did actual calls together.
He watched how I interacted with office staff, how I handled a no-see, and we debriefed over lunch.
Very conversational but I could tell he was evaluating cultural fit hard.
Offer came 5 business days later.
Comp was competitive — base in the low 130s with 40% bonus at plan.
Overall a professional and well-organized process.
Happy to answer questions.
